Muscat, Oman, 3rd March, 2012: OIG (Oman International Group) has achieved an outstanding HSE (Health Safety and Environment) milestone with its client PDO (Petroleum Development Oman) by completing 9 million man-hours and driven 11 Million kms without an LTI (Lost Time Incident) during its Environmental Services Contract for the Coastal Region for the past 14 years.

This reflects OIG’s commitment to HSE throughout its operations with PDO and its corporate policy states; ’To operate in a manner that safeguards the Health, Safety and Environment of those who could be affected by our operations‘. Blair Tame, General Manager for OIG, said, “Considering all the various operational tasks that are being carried out, such as driving, tree cutting & pruning, floor maintenance, pesticide application and waste collection, OIG is very pleased to add this one to our earlier awards.” He went on to say, “What we do for PDO might not seem very complicated but all the jobs carry a risk of potential injury and it is primarily due to the training and dedication of our staff that has ensured that we have operated without any lost time due to injury.”

While appreciating the commitment of OIG’s HSE team, Ahmed Said Al Lamki – Facilities & Business Support Manager of PDO, presented a plaque to OIG in a ceremony at the UIB offices on the PDO site. Said Riyami – Contract Holder said, “We are proud to be able to present this award to OIG. PDO have a very strong working relationship with OIG, over the years we have built up a good trust between the two companies and we can rely on OIG to provide the quality of service we expect.” OIG has held the PDO Environment Services Contract – Coastal Area since 1997. OIG’s HSE Manager – Mathew Roy, said, “We cover such a wide area that we must constantly educate the staff at regular intervals to keep them aware of the safety hazards so as to avoid any accidents while ensuring that we accomplish our job on time. As we all know, the newspapers regularly remind us of the road traffic accidents and we are especially pleased to have driven 11 million kms, the equivalent of 275 times round the world, without an accident on this contract.”
